Mr Maunula,
It is the first time I read about you in this wensite. I lift my hat to you for doing it as a one-man show with so much to see and read, with daily updating on top of this.It is great.
I am particular impressed by your kind and prompt response to my comments over the past few days on the learning of Chinese.
Regarding your contemplating to continue with a PhD, I would say "Why not?" With your interest, passion, hard work, knowledge and experience, you the plus factors to get a scholarship to do PhD for financing. It should be easier than, say, learning Chinese (Oops! sorry for comparing a pomelo with a durian, instead of apple to apple).
Good luck and good health.

Hello Vili - just found this and wanted to drop you a line to say nice! and thanks. I am just starting out in linguistics, after living in a tiny but of course linguistically dense region of the Pacific as a Peace Corps volunteer. I will puruse the site and see what other goodies are here. Take care and keep up the good work! S
